A subdomain is part of a web address that is under the main domain name, such as name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain since the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Every subdomain can have its own website and records and can even be hosted through a different company if you wish to use a feature which isn't offered by your current service provider. An example for using a subdomain is if you have a business site and an online store under a subdomain where customers can purchase your products. Additionally, you can have a forum where they can discuss the products and by employing subdomains instead of subfolders you'll avoid any risk of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping your sites separated is more secure in case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Cloud Hosting

Our cloud hosting plans will allow you to create many subdomains for any domain hosted within your account without any difficulty. Provided that the main domain address is added, it will take 2 mouse clicks to create a subdomain and choose what folder it's going to open (if different from the default one), create unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, plus much more. All subdomains will be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for effortless access and control. By right-clicking on any of them and by using instant access buttons you can see the error logs, visitor statistics or site files for that specific subdomain. We have not set a limit for the total amount of subdomains that you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.
